Celine's work aims to develop a blood-based test to predict responses to immune checkpoint inhibitors in lung cancer. By analyzing immune cell profiles in peripheral blood, she seeks to improve patient selection for immunotherapy treatments.

Marcel's research combines single-cell proteomics with mass spectrometry to explore treatment resistance mechanisms in cancers, focusing on melanoma and lung cancer. The Gevaert lab is developing cutting-edge single-cell proteomics workflows to investigate non-genetic resistance factors.

Sam Kint's research explores drug resistance and cancer relapse, particularly focusing on non-genetic mechanisms such as epigenetic alterations. In the EpiGuide project, he aims to develop a minimal-invasive assay for monitoring these epigenetic switches in circulating tumor DNA, facilitating early detection of therapy resistance. Next to this, Sam is focusing on implementation and development of novel single-cell and spatial (epi)genomics methods.

Ruth Seurinck develops open-source algorithms to analyze single-cell transcriptomics data, aiming to improve our understanding of how cells interact and coordinate their functions. Her research focuses on integrating prior biological knowledge with multi-omics technologies to infer cell-cell communication processes in both healthy and diseased tissues. By leveraging advanced data mining and modeling techniques, she works on enhancing computational methods for single-cell biology.
